A look back on the guided tour “Bayonne: gourmet chocolate” with international students!
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, forty participants — graduates and students — took part in the “Gourmet Chocolate” guided tour, jointly organised by the UPPA Alumni network, the International Welcome Desk and the Language Resource Centre (CRL).
The two groups — one in French, the other in English — explored the history of chocolate, from its origins in Latin America to its arrival in Bayonne as early as the 17th century. The visit offered a privileged moment of exchange between members of the UPPA community around an essential gourmet heritage of the Basque Country.
Participants met several iconic chocolate makers of the city:
Monsieur Txokola
Atelier du Chocolat, with a tasting of Espelette pepper chocolate
Maison Cazenavec
Daranatz, which offered a small tasting pouch to each participant
Students were also introduced to the UPPA Alumni network and the services available to them, helping them better understand the resources and opportunities offered.
The afternoon unfolded in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
