Auriane Loubet - Junior Consultant in Digital Transformation - Alumni from the IAE Pau-Bayonne Master 2 Management of Organisations and Information Technology
‘The IAE Pau-Bayonne provided me with practical tools to build my career path. As mentioned earlier, the opportunity to do a work-study programme in my second year was decisive: it allowed me to gain initial experience in a company and secure a permanent contract at the end of my master's degree.’
Hello, could you introduce yourself in a few words? What course are you studying at the IAE Pau-Bayonne? What has your career path been so far?
My name is Auriane Loubet, and I have just completed my second year of the MOTI (Management of Organisations and Information Technology) Master's degree at the IAE Pau-Bayonne. The first year of the Master's programme was a full-time course, and for the second year, I joined Capgemini on a work-study programme. Capgemini is a digital services company specialising in consulting, technology services and digital transformation, where I worked as a digital transformation consultant.
As a consultant, I work on time-limited but quite varied assignments for companies in both the private and public sectors. I have had the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from governance audits to process modelling and change management.
This was my first real professional experience, and this year-long work-study programme ended with me being hired on a permanent contract, allowing me to continue my assignments in the same position.
What I appreciate about my job is the diversity of tasks and topics covered. Each project is different, which makes the work stimulating and allows me to develop a variety of skills. Also, working in a supportive and dynamic team contributes to a pleasant working environment. That's what made me want to continue in this field.
In 2024, you enrolled in the Master 2 in Information Technology and Organisation Management at the IAE Pau-Bayonne. Why did you choose this programme?
I enrolled in this master's programme as a continuation of my bachelor's degree in Economics and Management, with a focus on Management and Entrepreneurship, which I completed at UPPA. This choice seemed logical to me: after arriving in Pau for my bachelor's degree, I wanted to stay in this city for the rest of my studies. I was familiar with the teaching approach of certain lecturers, and the courses offered matched my interests.
The possibility of doing the second year on a work-study basis was also an important factor in my choice. This allows me to combine theoretical studies with professional experience, while facilitating my entry into the world of work.
I knew that I wanted to work in the field of digital technology, information systems and digital transformation, while retaining a managerial dimension so that I could progress further in my career. Even though I didn't yet have a clear idea of what job I wanted to do, the variety of career opportunities offered by this master's degree was a real advantage.
How did the IAE Pau-Bayonne help you in your career path and in building it?
The IAE Pau-Bayonne provided me with concrete tools to build my career path. As I mentioned earlier, the opportunity to do a work-study programme in my second year was decisive: it allowed me to gain initial experience in a company and secure a permanent contract at the end of my master's degree.
The programme combines fundamental courses with external lectures on more specialised topics, sometimes led by former students. This gives you a better understanding of the realities of the field and the different career opportunities available, which can help you decide which direction to take. The programme is quite comprehensive, with a variety of subjects, which allowed me to gradually identify the areas that interested me most (and therefore guide my search for a work-study programme, for example).
We develop a versatile profile with cross-disciplinary skills in management and information systems, which is an advantage. In fact, having multiple skills can be appreciated in a company: in my case, it was a real asset in my hiring process, where the company was looking for someone capable of adapting to a variety of tasks and managing projects, while also having a good understanding of IS issues. This training allowed me to meet these expectations from the outset.
If you had to choose one defining moment from your years at the IAE Pau-Bayonne, what would it be?
It would be the start of my work-study programme in Master 2. That's when I was able to move from theory to practice, applying what we had learned in class to real-life situations in the workplace. It was also a time marked by a spirit of mutual support, whether from certain teachers, teams at work, or my friends who were in the same transition phase.
Beyond technical skills, it also allowed me to grow on a personal level: I gained confidence, became more comfortable communicating, and learned to assert myself in a professional setting while remaining attentive.
It was a stage that taught me a lot. I am finishing my studies with a position that is a continuation of my work-study programme. It is a real culmination of all the work I have done over the years, and it is motivating to be able to start a new chapter.
Do you have a message for students who are currently studying or will be studying at the IAE Pau-Bayonne?
I would say to make the most of their time at the IAE Pau-Bayonne. It's a programme that has a lot to offer, whether in terms of courses, lecturers or projects. Even if you don't yet have a clear idea of the career you want to pursue, you have the opportunity to discover many different fields and get to know yourself better. Don't hesitate to talk to teachers, guest speakers and other students to help you progress.
Also, if there is the possibility of doing a work-study programme, it's a real opportunity. It's not always easy to find one, and it can take time, but don't be discouraged. If you persevere, the right opportunity will eventually come along. It's an essential step in building confidence, seeing how things work in a real-world business setting, and sometimes even landing a job at the end of it. And it can really make a difference for your future.
