‘The IAE Pau-Bayonne has enabled me to develop a broader perspective, which is essential in the professional world. Discussions with industry professionals are also very informative. Many practical cases are studied, which helps to reveal the reality of the professional world.’

Hello, could you introduce yourself in a few words? What degree did you obtain from the IAE Pau-Bayonne? What has been your career path so far?

Hello, my name is Jérôme ARHANCET, and I am originally from Bayonne. After obtaining my BAC ES (economic and social sciences baccalaureate), I studied for a bachelor's degree in economics and management at the UPPA (Bayonne) and then enrolled on the MPCL (Local authority management) master's programme at the IAE Pau-Bayonne. A few weeks before completing my master's degree, a professional opportunity arose. It was a position as secretary at the Biarritz Olympique Omnisports association. As this was my favourite club, I applied and joined the association as soon as I finished my Master's degree. I then progressed to become Administrative Manager and am now the association's Administrative and Financial Director. In order to ‘validate’ this progression, I also completed a Master's degree in Project Engineering.

After completing your Master's degree in Local Government Management in 2014, you enrolled in the Master's degree in Project Engineering at the IAE Pau-Bayonne in 2021. Why did you make this choice?

I decided to do a Master's degree after a discussion with my management, who wanted me to complete my training in order to increase my skills and be better equipped to take on new responsibilities. This Master's programme seemed comprehensive and well-suited to my evolving responsibilities. It covers a range of different areas and provides the tools needed to lead a team or project. I also received some positive feedback about this Master's programme before choosing it.

How has the IAE Pau-Bayonne helped you in your career and in building it?

The IAE Pau-Bayonne has enabled me to develop a broad perspective, which is essential in the professional world. Discussions with professional speakers are also very informative. Many practical cases are studied, which helps to reveal the reality of the professional world.

If you had to choose one memorable moment from your years at the IAE Pau-Bayonne, what would it be?

The oral defence of my dissertation, which was certainly stressful but marked the end of one stage and the beginning of new professional prospects.

Do you have any advice or recommendations for young talents who have recently graduated?

Keep a broad perspective on all the issues you encounter in your work. Don't be afraid to start in a position that may not be at the level of your education, but believe in internal growth and then validate what you have learned in your training.
