"I've known the IAE Pau-Bayonne by reputation for a very long time. I chose it for its seriousness, and also in relation to the course content, which seemed rich and adapted to my professional project."

Hello, can you introduce yourself in a few words? Which IAE Pau-Bayonne course did you graduate from? What has been your career path so far?

Hello, my name is Oumaima Assad. I first obtained a MIAGE degree from the University of Bordeaux, before going on to do a Master's degree in Organization and Information Technology Management at the IAE Pau-Bayonne.
This master's degree enabled me to do a work-study placement with the Alstom Digital Services team at the Tarbes site. This experience was a real opportunity: it enabled me to put my skills into practice, and discover how a major industrial group works.
It was this work-study program that opened the door to my first permanent job. I was recruited on a permanent basis by Capgemini Engineering as Project Configuration & Change Manager in the Projects department at Alstom.

In 2023, you joined the IAE Pau-Bayonne's Master 2 in Organization and Information Technology Management. Why did you choose this course?

I've known the IAE Pau-Bayonne by reputation for a very long time. I chose it because of its seriousness, and also because of the course content, which seemed to me to be rich and adapted to my professional project.

Tell us a little about your role as Communications Manager for the IAE Pau-Bayonne Student Office, what has this experience brought you?

I've taken a lot of positives from this experience. Self-confidence, initiative, responsibility and group management are all qualities I've been able to develop and put forward in my CV and at interviews. Having an activity in your school is appreciated by recruiters, who like candidates who are involved in extracurricular projects.

How was your first year on the job market?

My first year on the job market was both reassuring and stimulating.
Reassuring, because I was lucky enough to start my career in a familiar environment: my assignment is still with Alstom, where I had done my work-study placement. I found familiar landmarks, colleagues I'd met before, and a certain continuity in working methods.
But it was also a challenging year. Even though I knew the company well, the tasks entrusted to me on a permanent contract were different, with greater responsibilities and expectations. There's always a certain amount of apprehension when you enter the world of work, especially just after your studies. I quickly realized how important it is to dare to ask questions, to remain curious and proactive, so as to gain autonomy and progress serenely in my duties.

Do you have any advice or words for future graduates who will soon be looking for their first job?

Don't hesitate to be curious and reach out to others: opportunities are sometimes right next door, without us even knowing it. If you have a specific project in mind, it's best to get started early, because finding a company can take a long time - between the research, the applications and the replies, the process can be lengthy. But above all, never get discouraged: perseverance always pays off in the end.
