Waêl Alalam - Business Developer UK - Alumni of the IAE Pau-Bayonne Master EIBS
‘The reputation of the IAE Pau-Bayonne clearly helped me get my first jobs. The skills I acquired also gave me the confidence to enter the job market.'
Hello, can you introduce yourself in a few words? What program did you graduate from at the IAE Pau-Bayonne? What has your career path been like so far?
I graduated with a Master's 1 and 2 in European and International Business Studies from the IAE Pau-Bayonne. After my studies, I worked in business development and customer relations in companies in France with a strong international dimension.
In 2023, you enrolled in the Master's 2 in European and International Business Studies at the IAE Pau-Bayonne. Why did you make this choice?
Because it opened up real professional opportunities in international management. The courses in English, the practical approach and the multicultural environment perfectly matched my objectives.
Can you also tell us about your international mobility experience?
I did my mobility at the University of Szczecin in Poland. Everything went perfectly: the courses were high quality, the welcome for foreign students was excellent, and accommodation was easy to organise.
How did the IAE Pau-Bayonne help you in your professional career and in building it?
The IAE's Pau-Bayonne reputation clearly helped me get my first jobs. The skills I acquired also gave me the confidence to enter the job market.
How did your first year on the job market go?
Very well. I quickly found a job, then moved on to another one that was more suited to my ambitions. UK business development. As a UK Business Developer, I carry out comprehensive prospecting - identifying and recruiting partner establishments (B2B) and freelancers (B2C) to build up a talent pool. For temporary employment platforms, this involves canvassing, analysing needs, negotiating contracts and managing relationships. It was a privilege to work in English as well: mastering both languages (French/English) is a key asset for operating both on the French market and internationally, thus multiplying professional opportunities.
Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for future graduates who will soon be looking for their first job?
Learn French, work hard, and stay open to opportunities. The IAE Pau-Bayonne gives you a solid foundation: it's up to you to make the most of it.
