Name of the organization that hired you: Maïsadour
Type of organization (company, local authority, association…): Company
Its sector of activity: Agri-food

What led you to choose to pursue a PhD under a CIFRE agreement?

I wanted to both deepen my academic research and work on concrete issues coming from industry. The CIFRE scheme offers an ideal opportunity to connect scientific innovation with practical applications. This choice also followed on from my Master’s apprenticeship project carried out at Maïsadour, which strengthened the coherence and relevance of this pathway.

What was your main mission within the organization?

My main mission was to develop and test solutions to create cognitive cyber-physical systems that meet the needs and challenges of Industry 4.0. This included modelling, designing intelligent architectures, and integrating prototypes within Maïsadour’s processes (Drying, Storage, Flows, etc.), in close collaboration with both technical and research teams.

What concrete benefits do you gain today from this experience?

This experience allowed me to acquire dual expertise: recognised scientific knowledge in the field of cyber-physical systems for the Industry of the Future, and hands-on practical experience directly aligned with industrial needs. It also taught me how to collaborate efficiently with research and technical teams, manage multidisciplinary projects, and promote my work in both academic and industrial contexts.

How would you describe your CIFRE PhD experience in 3 or 4 words?

Collaborative – Enriching – Structuring – Rewarding

If you had to do it again, would you choose a CIFRE PhD?

Yes, without hesitation. The CIFRE PhD offered me a unique balance between applied research and academic research, perfectly matching my profile and ambitions. It is a demanding path that requires real commitment and strong motivation, but the experience and results make it absolutely worthwhile once the project is completed.

Any final thoughts?

The CIFRE programme is demanding but extremely formative. It requires the ability to navigate between the expectations of the company and those of the laboratory, but this very richness is what makes it an exceptional professional and scientific experience.
