After completing a DUT in Statistics and Decision-Making Informatics at UPPA from 2019 to 2021, Clément Ribeiro Da Silva continued his career as a Data Scientist at Atta in Paris before co-founding Inflow in November 2024 with his brother Allan. Clément was awarded the title of national ambassador for the “Osez l’IA” initiative last September.

You are a UPPA graduate… What did you study and why?

I joined the DUT in Statistics and Decision-Making Informatics in 2019 after a first year in a mathematics degree that turned out to be too theoretical for me. The UPPA guidance service directed me toward this DUT, where mathematics are taught in a more concrete way and applied to the business world. I am sincerely grateful for that, because this program felt like an obvious choice: linking learning to real-world business challenges. This course provided me with the foundational data processing skills I use today at Inflow. I learned to combine mathematics and computer science, which gave me my first foundations in data and programming for the Data Scientist role I now hold. I appreciated the small-scale structure of the IUT, which fosters guided autonomy. I have maintained both personal and professional relationships with several of my professors. In fact, in March, I will be speaking to third-year students to share my experience and lead a workshop on AI. This program represents a strong connection for me, as it helped solidify my desire to start a company with my brother. It was the starting point of our entrepreneurial journey.

At the time, how did you imagine your “professional future”?

I have always been passionate about mathematics. At first, I wanted to apply it to architecture or become a math teacher. My first year in a mathematics degree at UPPA confirmed this interest, which continued with learning statistics. At that time, I considered becoming a statistician in a research department, such as INSEE. I found it very interesting to analyze societal, economic, and behavioral data, and to build an overview that could provide insights into future challenges. AI and automation, which emerged alongside this, provided the two other foundational resources for Inflow. My brother and I’s desire to start a company comes from our parents, who have been running an electrical SME in Lourdes for 30 years. We grew up understanding the complexity of being an entrepreneur, which sets me apart from many of my peers who rarely consider entrepreneurship as a career path.

When did you start your company? What did your years at UPPA bring you?

In November 2024, after earning my Master’s degree in Information Processing and Data Science for Business at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and completing my apprenticeship at Atta in Paris, I legally founded Inflow. In 2025, we started securing our first major clients, such as Puy du Fou, working on predictive topics. My years at UPPA provided me with a solid foundation of skills, forming the technical expertise we now use to serve our clients. I learned how to handle data and apply it in real-world contexts. The DUT taught me how to navigate between specific professions and the unique challenges of each client, as well as data processing itself. The network of professors, with whom I am still in contact, was particularly valuable, helping me secure my first data internship at the Pau Pyrénées Agglomeration Community in 2021. Today, this organization has also become one of our clients. This network of trust has helped anchor my company regionally along the Pau-Lourdes-Tarbes-Toulouse axis, complementing our Paris-based clients.

Can you associate 2 or 3 words with UPPA? A highlight? An anecdote?

“Starting point. Transmission. Recognition.” Paradoxically, the highlight for me was the lockdown period, which affected nearly a full year of my studies. Unlike other institutions, UPPA responded immediately by implementing remote learning from the very next day. This became a second starting point for me, as it optimized the way I work. I discovered the flexibility of remote work and embraced this mode of working, which allowed me, alongside my studies, to explore my career path and its many opportunities. My relationships with my professors grew stronger, as we exchanged much more than usual. This structured freedom created a favorable environment where I was able to develop my autonomy and self-taught profile. This experience shaped the current organization of Inflow, which employs two remote workers. However, I do not lose the human aspect; I still go on-site to meet companies.

What message would you give to a young person considering joining a UPPA program? To a recent graduate finishing their studies?

At UPPA, there is a diverse range of skills, degrees, and programs, which is a real asset in the Southwest of France to start and find your path. Then, everyone should absorb these opportunities like a sponge. It is a starting point that opens up possibilities and also encourages you to pursue further studies in larger cities (or not!).
